Studies in education consider that “problem” is relatively appears in all groups of age. Normally this problem requires creative solutions and systematic. In the lecture, the student's ability to solve problems is one of the prominent characteristics of a scientist. This article will be presented on the profile of students at the University X, in solving problems, based on gender differences. The purpose of this study is to provide a description of the student problem solving skills. solving problems in this study is measured using a questionnaire adapted Problem Solving Inventory self-report nature, with a view of the problem solving aspect 3, the presence or absence of confidence in solving problems (problem solving confidence), trends in problem solving (approach-avoidance style ), and the presence or absence of personal control in problem solving (personal control). The total number of respondents in the study is 173 students. They were from seven departments of a private University in Jakarta. Keywords: students, problem solving
